Jeepney ride along Ayala Avenue
November 2nd, 2008 under Makati City. [ Comments: none ]

I have always wanted to take photos from the middle of Ayala Avenue. But sanity tells me I simply can’t do that. However, there will always a way for an eager mind. To this end, jeepneys come in very helpful.

True enough I took a jeepney ride one Sunday afternoon. Took the front seat. I set my cam to multiburst mode and took photos from Makati Stock Exchange to The Columns at the end of Ayala Avenue. Canon’s vari-angle LCD made proved very useful in this mission.

So here are the photos…

Office with a view
November 2nd, 2008 under Makati City. [ Comments: none ]

What are your criteria in finding a job? Hmm…let’s see - high paycheck? good health benefits? being able to travel within and outside the country? Maybe. But for me, the view is a BIG plus. It gives me a feeling that I am on top of things. Hehe….and when strained by my CRT monitor, I can always face the window right behind my desk, and have my eyeballs relaxed.

That is now a thing of the past, after moving out from a highrise to a lowrise workplace. So I can only marvel at the views on photos. Better than nothing. In fact, not everyone appreciates having an office with a view. But I do.

Here are some photos from behind my desk. The glass is tinted but it’s clean most of the times.

Citibank Tower roofdeck: One Last Chance
October 5th, 2008 under Makati City, Mandaluyong City & Pasig City, Taguig City. [ Comments: 3 ]

No matter how much we love something or someone, goodbye is sometimes inevitable. September 7 was my last day at work. So that’s also the last day I will be working in Citibank Tower in Makati City. There’s one thing I’m going to miss about this tower - my constant sneak through the roofdeck level of the building which offers a panoramic view of neighbor cities like Taguig, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Manila and beyond.

Some of my old photos date back as early as last quarter of 2003 using then the bulky Canon Ae1. (He retired few months after). Here are links to my old photos posted on pbase.com:

I was still trying to learn the basics of photography. Hence the amateurish look. I hope I learned my lessons. Hehe….

As my last day at the office approached, I spent one Sunday afternoon at the office, and consequently, at the roofdeck. There’s one ultimate end in mind - to take photos from up there. The weather cooperated and my loyal cam did not act up. So everything went on perfectly. I got some photos to look at everytime nostalgia of my old work and workplace comes along. And I would like to share them with you…Please do take time to look at them too. :)

Rockwell Center, Makati City
September 7th, 2008 under Makati City. [ Comments: 1 ]

What used to be a power plant is now home to the posh residential and commercial community of Makati City. What I especially like about Rockwell Center is its being privy - suits people who want to shun the crowd but not completely leaving the metropolis.

Strolling around Rockwell even after midnight is a breeze - set in a well landscaped greenery. A dozen of conspicuous security folks to keep you feel secured while your’re trying to breathe some fresh air or do that early morning jog.

Another interesting stuff about Rockwell is it’s sense of aesthetics. Its residential towers - named after National Heroes and artists (Luna, Rizal, Mananzala, Amorsolo, et al) have architectural characters. The older ones like Rizal Tower and Luna Gardens used granite external finish complemented with glass claddings and windows. Two commercial towers - Nestle Center and Phinma Tower both used curtain wall and aluminum claddings.

Rockwell Land’s most recent residential project in Makati - One Rockwell composed of two towers features yet another interesting designs - a cascading structure similar to the concept of the Rice Terraces and an elliptical tower with all curves. This is the very first development in the country to feature a z-loft type of unit. Imagine taking your early morning coffee sip with Antipolo Hills and a sunrise backdrop and going to bed at the loft level of your unit with Manila’s western bays as your view. Very innovative indeed!

In the meantime, here are some photos of Rockwell from my files…

Ayala Triangle, Makati City Part 2
August 20th, 2008 under Makati City. [ Comments: 2 ]

I have always wanted to take photo of the whole stretch of Ayala Triangle peripheries, including the skyscrapers and structures around it. Now seems like this is what I am exactly doing now. One thing I forgot to do - I forgot to take photo of myself in my supposedly oasis within the chaotic city! :)

Anyway, this is a follow-up to an earlier post. Enjoy the walk-through….
